My name is Margaret Holleran and I own and run Pets Are People Too.

I have loved animals all of my life. As a child, I cared for our family's dogs, rabbits, chinchillas, fish, and turtles. When I was a child, I remember telling my family that I was not going to have children when I grew up but that I was going to have puppies and as it turns out, I was right! As an adult I have had dogs and cats and truly have felt like they were my children. I cherish my pets and consider them to be part of my family. When I take care of others’ pets I give them all of the love that I have because I know that they are your family and deserve the best care possible. In time my clients’ pets begin to feel like family to me and I believe the pets begin to feel I am a member of their family.

I have obtained a Bachelors of Arts in psychology. My degree helps me understand behavior, whether it be human or animal. I use this knowledge when working with animals in order to reduce and eliminate the occurrence of negative behavior and to motivate them to behave in positive ways. While I was in college I volunteered for the Santa Barbara Animal Shelter and The Humane Society where I gained invaluable experience and knowledge about the care of animals.

I am a member of Pet Sitters International and abide by its Recommended Quality Standards for Excellence in Pet Sitting.

I have had my pet sitting business since 2000. I am licensed, bonded, insured, and trained and certified in pet first aid and CPR.
